Freediving with 7 Gill Sharks

Searching for sharks – Freediving False Bay, South Africa.

This part of the world is notorious for the Great White shark, however there is another species lurking in and around the kelp forests.  The unusual looking, 7 gill shark.

. These guys are down swimming below in the kelp, somewhere between 9m-12m down. Such peaceful sharks.

I still regard the great white as a potential man-eater… but there are so many other sharks which are so peaceful.
